Thought I’d share a bit about my business The Film Poster Store . Hope that’s ok. I sell original vintage film posters, film memorabilia, comics and original autographs. I’ve only just gone live with my new website so I’ve still got 1000’s of items to list for sale. The prices range from under £50 up to the £1,000’s (for something like an original Breakfast At Tiffany’s film poster).
I don’t have a specific “type” of customer as original film posters appeal to such a wide range of people. To give you an idea:
1) Interior designers - looking for something unique / special and often “one off”. Nearly all of the posters I have are only available from me once. I don’t have another and it’s often extremely difficult to find another! I also allow customers to search by colour on my website which will hopefully help you to narrow down a search if you are trying to match a particular colour scheme.
2) Gifters - people often look for something special as a gift for a specific birthday/retirement/wedding. It might be a original Star Wars poster for a 50th or a Christopher Lee film poster for a Dracula fan.
3) Investment - original vintage film posters offer a very sound investment for the future and their value is proven to be increasing year on year. They provide a great alternative to traditional stocks & shares. Remember original posters are only available in a very limited quantity and only some within the purchase market (as most remain within the hands of collectors).
4) Geek Chic - we offer plenty of affordable more modern posters to adorn the walls of film loving teens & students. Why buy a reproduction (which is of no value) when you can have an original?
5) Purist Collectors - a large and growing number of people are genuine “purist” collectors who know what they like and have exacting standards for the posters / lobby cards / press books they collect. Most have no specific intention of displaying but gain enjoyment from searching for and purchasing specific items off their “want list”. They store and order in meticulous detail and enjoy perusing their collection (maintaining very careful storage of each item). Many will view their collections as a retirement fund, family inheritance to be passed on or simply their passion! latest chic wedding collections at affordable price
